Course Title:
Technical Math for Electrical Series
Prerequisites: Basic
Math
Course Length and Maximum Class Size:
18 Classroom hours presented in (6) 3-hour sessions.
(NOTE: Participants will have
the option of taking a challenge test prior to the beginning of the
class to demonstrate mastery of all or part of the skills which will be
addressed in the class. This may
eliminate the need to participate in all 18 hrs. of instruction.
Call ASU Tech to schedule tests. Also,
employees who have successfully completed Technical Math for Blueprint
Reading/Mechanical will need only to participate in module 3 to satisfy the
requirements of the course.) Maximum class size is 20.
Objective:
To equip participants with the math skills needed to proficiently perform
tasks required in the courseware of the electrical series.
Content:
Module
1 - (6 hrs) Math computation involving fractions and
decimals. A test will be given upon
completion of these 6 hours to determine participants’ readiness to proceed to
module 2 or the need to repeat module 1.
Module
2 - (6 hrs) Math applications and problem solving
involving fractions and decimals; using simple formulas; using calculators.
Module
3 - (6 hrs) Ratio and proportion; using formulas;
introduction to functions; engineering notations. {Final exam}

Employees planning to enroll in classes associated with courseware in the
electrical series.
Equipment Needed for Instruction:
Dry erase board or chalkboard, overhead projector.
