Course Title: Operations Management in Manufacturing

18 Classroom hours held in (6) 3-hour session. Maximum class size is 25.

Objective:

To introduce a way for companies to regain their manufacturing superiority and their competitive edge in the fact of worldwide competition. To identify the major stumbling blocks confronting operations management and present a practical framework for overcoming them to achieve manufacturing excellence.

  1. Differentiating between value-added and non-value-added transformation activities
  2. Maximizing the value added to the products your company manufactures
  3. Hierarchical production planning to optimize the manufacturing process
  4. Employing the latest quality initiatives throughout operations to achieve greater customer satisfaction
  5. Integrating the three management areas critical to manufacturing - process analysis, materials, and quality
  6. Establishing shared responsibilities and interfunctional channels of communication
  7. Identifying the different types of inventory systems and understanding when and how to use them
  8. Integrating Design for Manufacturing (DFMA) principles into operations
