Course Title: Purchasing Management

Course Length and Maximum Class Size:

18 Classroom hours held in (6) 3-hour session. Maximum class size is 25.

Objective:

To cover the basics of purchasing management…from negotiating skills 

to supplier evaluation… from procurement policies to inventory management. 

To highlight important new topics including purchasing and quality, 

competitive bidding, purchasing research, qualitative forecasting, 

and the integration of computers in the purchasing process.

Content:

  1. Identifying, evaluating, and doing business with quality conscious suppliers
  2. Conducting an ABC analysis of the company’s inventory to improve productivity and profitability
  3. Generating and analyzing crucial purchasing date using Purchasing Management Information System (PMIS)
  4. Avoiding potential legal pitfalls by understanding the legal framework affecting purchasing
  5. Using advanced management tools, techniques, and systems to turn purchasing into a major contributor
  6. Obtaining products of the highest quality from the most reliable sources at the lowest possible cost
