Course Title: Fundamentals of Shop Floor Control

Prerequisites: None

Course Length and Maximum Class Size:

18 Classroom hours held in (6) 3-hour session. Maximum class size is 25.

Objective:

Participants will learn fundamental tools for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and optimizing shop floor performance and trends in shop floor control, including computer-integrated manufacturing and global integration enhanced by graphs, charts and illustrations.

Content:

    1. Translating superior performance on the shop floor into exceptional bottom-line results
    2. Controlling capacity, scheduling and sequencing for accurate lead-time management
    3. Employing just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing techniques for greater productivity and profitability
    4. Pinpointing factors that affect shop floor performance
    5. Balancing capacity and load for higher output
    6. Using information systems to improve shop floor management
