Course Title:     Fundamentals of Critical Thinking

 

Prerequisites:   None

 

Course Length and Maximum Class Size:

Six hours of classroom instruction in (2) 3-hour sessions.             Maximum class size – 20 participants.

 Objective:

To recognize and apply the thought processes necessary for solving problems and maintaining quality performance in the workplace.

Content:

1.  Skimming and scanning printed materials for information........... 2 hour

2.  Identifying fact and opinion........... 3 hour

3.  Identifying relevant and irrelevant information........... 2 hour

4.  Recognizing cause and effect relationships........... 2 hour

5.  Comparing and contrasting........... 3 hour

6.  Following sequential, procedural directions........... 3 hour

7.  Using charts, graphs, diagrams, tables, & schematics ........... 2 hour

8.  Convergent (logical) vs. divergent (creative) thinking............ 3 hour
