Course Title: Transition to Supervision / New Supervisor

Prerequisites: None

Course Length and Maximum Class Size:

4 Classroom hours held in (1) 4-hour session. Maximum class size is 20.

Objective:

Participants learn fundamental management skills, including focusing on behavior rather than the individual, encouraging team members’ participation, and listening to team members to motivate them.

Content:

·       Understanding issues of transitioning to management

·       Managing former peers

·       Delegating, correcting work habits, evaluating performance and dealing with complaints

·       Dealing with behavior issues in a supportive way

·       Involving team members in decision making and problem solving

·       Developing skills in active listening
