Course Title: English as a Second Language (ESL)

Prerequisites: None

Course Length and Maximum Class Size:

Classes are currently offered two evenings each week at the Jonesboro Adult Education Center. Class length is 2 hours per session. Students may enter at any time throughout the year.

Upon request, classes may be designed to accommodate the specific needs of any business or industry.

Objective:

To assist non-English speaking people in improving their English communication skills.

Content:

Conversational English is introduced through a variety of reading, writing, and role-playing exercises. Lessons are structured around the "life skills" required for individuals to perform daily routines including such activities as work, education, shopping, obtaining services, attending to medical needs, and other interactions within the community.

Beneficial to:

Anyone who wishes to enhance his/her ability to communicate more effectively in English.

Equipment Needed for instruction:

Whiteboard, flip chart, photocopying privileges.
